This weekend Tim's Family had a Reunion at a Resort in Phoenix, so we went out there Saturday for the day and swam and visited. It was SO hot and I was afraid Minnie was going to get burned, even though she was lathered in Sunblock, so we went inside for most of the afternoon. This was her first time ever getting in the pool, and as you can see, she was thrilled!
Anderson was more interested in "play grass" (playing in the grass) than the actual pool, so it was a struggle to keep him occupied. What's new.

4th of July Dress
This is what 2 year old boredom brings...that and flushing a raquetball down the toilet. Luckily my little fingers and hands were the perfect size for fishing it out.
Sorry for the blurry picture but I caught Tim cutting Minnie's nails like that. He wasn't kidding I don't think.

Ok, this is not my idea, I've seen it on a few random blogs but, it's a little girls dress from 2 bandanas and some ribbon. It takes like 5 minutes and if you can sew a straight line, you can do it. These bandanas were from Target in the bins where stuff is a dollar. I cut them a bit smaller or else it would be way too long for Minnie. Not bad for 2 bucks. It's cute for the 4th of July and very light weight so she won't die of heat exhaustion.

A well needed break!
This weekend, Tim and I stayed at the Orange Tree Golf Resort in Scottsdale for a well deserved break! Tim's mom was nice enough to watch Minnie and Andy while we were gone. Hopefully, she'll want to watch them again...we'll see. We went shopping and got Minnie a little doll. I know she'll reach an age where she will probably hate us for naming her Minnie (like Minnie Mouse). Minnie was my Great Grandma who I was very close to and lived until I was a senior in High School. I spent a lot of time with her and am really glad I could name my little girl after her. So for now, I'm embracing the Minnie Mouse connection. We'll see how long that lasts!

I'm Losing My Patience
I'm losing my patience very quickly with this little boy. In the last 2 days, he has dipped his head in the toilet TWICE, drank water from the toilet once, flushed crackers down the toilet, flushed a micro machines car down the toilet (I'm pretty sure, and it's clogged at this point), unlocked the front door and pushed the chair over to unhook the chain on the top of the door, come in with his mouth covered in diaper rash cream, and pushed the chair to the counter to eat many brownies out of the cookie jar. Not to mention I had to call poison control last week because he drank the ant bait that the pest control guy left in the window. All of this while his baby sister is eating. Throw in the occasional 2 year old temper tantrums and the summer heat trapping us inside and you get one impatient mom.

Recipe Clarification
So, Marci asked me about the homemade ice cream recipe and so I'm clarifying. Put all of those ingredients into your ice cream freezer (you know the one with the motor and ice and rock salt) and turn it on. It will stop when it's done! Sorry for the confusion. If you don't have one, you can borrow one from me!

Tim's Birthday
In Tim's family, everyone's birthday somehow connects to someone else's birthday. They are either on the same day in different months, or same day same month. For example, Tim's brothers have the same exact birthday but 2 years apart. And, their wives have the same exact birthday. So, when I met Tim and we started dating, one of the first things Tim's mom asked me is when my birthday was. I thought it was kinda a weird question at the time, but when I answered, Tim said, "Oh no". His is May 30th and mine is June 30th, so we fit the crazy birthday corresponding....which apparently meant we were suppossed to get married. Anyway, Tim's birthday was Saturday so we got "Birthday Donuts" at Krispy Kreme in the morning and hung out. Then Tim and I went out while Courtney watched the kids for us! It was the first time we had been out for a few months. New babies really kill those date nights. Sunday we had Tim's family over for brownies and homemade ice cream! I have the easiest recipe which requires NO COOKING on the stove. Its:
2 cups milk
2 cups half & half
1 3/4 cup sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 Tablespoon vanilla
4 cups whipping cream
It was good!
