A little help here

So, this may sound kinda retarded, but I figured why not ask. Since Anderson is my first, I'm not exactly sure what kinds of things are best for him to do at this age. He is not a cuddly want to sit on Mom's lap kind of kid, and he is good at entertaining himself, but I want to try to play more with him and teach him more things. For all of you expert parents out there, what kinds of things do you do to play with your 1 year old?? He isn't walking yet and wants to go everywhere so it's hard to engage him for very long. Plus, he is not the greatest copier/immitator. Any suggestions?

Yea see about monday. Gavin and Baylie are that way. I show them flash cards, Puzzles was a super good one. My favorite ones are at TJ maxx(YOu can get the other places but they are cheaper) Melissa and Doug. Baylie tries to do them. She loves animal flash cards. The Park is a fun thing too. come to Chick fil a he can play in the play area. He will LOVE interacting with the older kids. My friends daughter is 5 and she LOVEs entertaining little ones. Oh and we got gav at one this little mini t-ball thing he loved it.

I agree with the mini tee ball thing I have it too and Tyte loved and still loves it. Its at Walmart for like 12 to 15 bucks. Blocks are also really good. You can play with those together and he won't grow out of them for a really long time. Blocks are also on the developmantal check list for that age. I know I'm weird but I totally look at that list. Sorry Hope that helps a little. Good luck. Andy Vandy Pants is so cute.

Cash's favorite "toy" was the bouncing spinning zebra by fisher price. here is the toys r us link. I am sure you could find it cheaper somewhere else, or maybe even on Craigslist. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2298888
Every one year old should have it. Carter even loves it so it's worth the money to last long. I know lots of moms are anti-t.v. time for kids, but I think there are some great little kid shows. (I know/hope Marci will back me on this at least!)
Baby Prodigy is one of our kids favs. And all those baby einstein movies. We listen to lots of music so they like to have musical toys. Right before walking I think it is great to have walker pusher toys.
Another idea is to hurry and get pregnant because then he has someone else to play with. That's what we did. I was so sickly pregnant with Cash when Carter was this age so I hardly remember it.
Getting a pet would be my last idea. Fish, dog, hamster....whatever you can handle. Anderson would keep any of the above entertained.
Parks, walks, mall, anything visual is good too!

Well I don't know if I can help much. I know a lot of people aren't into getting dirty like we are around here. But here are some of Ainsley's favorite things to do right now.

She likes pudding finger painting. Just make vanilla pudding and color it. We do peanut butter playdough. Just roll it around a squish it. Ainsley likes to help me bake too. She likes to imitate what Isaac and I are doing.

She also likes to color, but likes to eat markers. . .

Building towers and then knocking them down. Playing cars. Playing drums and piano.

Her all time favorite is playing outside. We do sidewalk chalk, going on walks, being pushed on a bike.

Hope some of these work for you!!!

Mini Tee Ball, Side walk chalk, sit and ride toys that he can also us to help him learn to walk better, Books books books, balls, coloring & painting. Those are the things Aiden and I do. He HATES sitting still and wont look at flashcards or anything. So he plays on the go. BUBBLES. They are so fun too. We also like to play "where are Aidens ____" so he learned body parts that way.

Don't ask me - I taught Brooklyn how to scream really loud and I usually regret it at church or in the car.

Gracie likes legos, easy puzzles and books and me to hold her all the time, so that's not good for my back. I sometimes don't know what to do either, she doesn't like to sit still and eats none stop. she's 18 months now, sorry I'm not a big help. I'm sure you are doing just fine :)

Well I am glad you asked the question because I am on kid number 2 and still dont know what to do sometimes. Jack is not a sit still kid either, he is always on the go. How has the church experiment been going? You will have to let me know because last Sunday was ridiculous!!
