I'm Nervous

So, this week we are flying back to Charlotte, NC to visit Tim's 2 brothers. I am excited, but a bit nervous for 2 reasons. #1 Anderson is quite possibly the squirmiest little boy of all time and will not sit still for anything. I'm in the process of designing/patenting the first baby straight jacket. At church, it's rough. He just wants to move, especially now that he can. #2 The last couple of days, Anderson never stops talking! He is screaming and saying every sound and making every noise he can...ALL DAY! Don't get me wrong, it's cute and funny and all, but I'm just hoping a plane full of passengers at 6:45 in the morning will think the same. Any suggestions?? Marci suggested bringing a dvd player and putting baby Einstein in. Good idea, expect at home he will watch it for 10 seconds before he gets bored and wants to do something else. It's all happy screams and talking, but you know what I mean. Any suggestions are welcome.

I usually put him in here for a few minutes to play, and today he was smashing his face against the side (like kids do to sliding glass doors or windows). It was making me laugh so hard. I tried to catch a good one and this was the best I got.

I like Marci's idea. My kids like a dvd called Baby Prodigy. They will watch it over and over, but Baby Einstein bores them. It's basically the same thing but for some reason they like the Duck named Dookie. Chandler library has it I know. We always were renting it. I don't think anyone else would have even picked it but we were desperate to find something to help Cash with all his stomach stuff and to calm him down. It was amazing.
Benadryl is my life saver on planes. Or anyother time of the day when I need a break. Just kidding! :) But really...call your pediatrician and see how much you can give him and give it to him right as you get to the airport. They even make the kind you can stick on their tongue and it will desolve if he can't handle the syrup. I think we would give Cash 1/2 of the strip when he was little. don't remember exactly though. I'm all for the drugs to guarantee the quiet time for the other passengers. He is so cute and I love the baby jabber, but I know most people get sick of it quick. The only thing my pediatrician recommended was trying it BEFORE you go on the plane one day to make sure he sleeps and doesn't get hyper. Some kids have reverse effect on it.
Have you given him the gerber star treats yet? Those might be a fun new thing to keep him quiet. They have a ton of flavors and I personally think they are all good. It will keep you and Tim entertained too!
Last suggestion: Don't be afraid to get up and walk him up and down the aisle if the pilot turns off the seatbelt sign. I am sure you will get some weird looks but it's better than trying to keep him confined!
Every flight we have been on I pack 100 things for them to do and watch and eat and everytime they end up asleep anyways so don't stress too much. You'll do good!!

Anderson is so dang cute! I love his big blue eyes...adorable. I was always so nervous to fly with Jack too, but it always turned out better than excpeted. When we fly I load up on the treats, bottles, and toys. In the past I always brought Jacks carrier, Southwest always let us have an extra seat if there was room on the plane. (I would call your airline to see if they can do this for you.) I would time it just right so that he is ready for a nap and ready to eat when we get on the plane. As soon as we would take off I lay him in his carrier and feed him a bottle. He fell asleep every time for the first half of the flight. On the second half we would test out all the treats and toys! This seemed to work for us. Hope this helps. Hope you guys have fun in NC.

Well Make sure you bring the carseat. If they have room-and ask- then you can put him in it. Usually there are extra seats and they work it out. That always makes it nice. My other suggestion wich is not always that best but, any kind of medicne that will let him sleep. With the time change and altitude and everything I have always found that it help if they sleep. I used to work for the airline so we flew all over and when we were going far we would always give gav something so that he could adjust better. But for sure when you check in ask about room for the car seat. Helps sooooo much. We get to AZ on the 17th!

Good luck. We have flown with our two kids. I would take the gerber treats. That will last a few minutes :) With our kids last time I bought new books and toys I new they would like. Nothing too expensive or crazy. But wrapped them up and they unwrapped them on the plane, and we read stories and did lots of coloring. Wasn't too bad, but I am nervous to fly again. I am a germ freak, so that's where my issues start. Love/Hate relationship, because I would rather fly then drive, but planes gross me out!

Well it looks like you got plenty of advise. I just got back from a trip and could have used that advise. Cooper is just like Anderson and never sits still, if u rememer. I wasn't going to take our DVD player because I didn't think it would work, but it did. He was still moving everywhere but the movie would stop him every once in a while a give us a break. At home true too many things to play with but in an airplane isle the DVD play was the distraction. And snack are always a miracle worker with cooper. Have fun

Chloe has been talking (screaming) a lot too. She gets so loud that it surprises her how much noise comes out of her mouth. Anderson looks so old now that his hair is combed over to the side. He looks so handsome. I love his smooshed face. Good thing he doesn't really look like that. jk
